Montefiore AIDS Center Overview
Leadership in fellowship training, research collaboration, and expert hands-on patient care in the hospital and specialty clinics are but a few of the ways that Einstein-Montefiore Infectious Disease faculty members are involved in the Montefiore AIDS Center.
Based in the Bronx, New York, the Montefiore AIDS Center is a leader in the field of multispecialty, multidisciplinary HIV/AIDS care. The AIDS Center serves as a local and national resource for patients living with or at risk for HIV/AIDS, as well as their families and caregivers. With its Center for Positive Living/ID Clinic, one of the largest HIV/AIDS clinics in New York state offering a wide range of specialized services in a central location, the Montefiore AIDS Center receives more patient referrals each year than any other HIV specialty clinic in New York state.
A member of the Center for AIDS Research (CFAR), the Montefiore AIDS Center collaborates with Einstein's basic science infectious disease researchers to conduct a wide range of clinical trials to offer patients access to leading-edge methods of HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment.
The Center's longstanding commitment to provide the highest quality patient care and treatment includes physician involvement in nationwide quality improvement and HIV medical guidelines committees, and a Consumer Advisory Board that serves as a model for other AIDS treatment centers.
The Montefiore AIDS Center is an integral source of HIV/AIDS professional education for Einstein-Montefiore physician researchers in every specialty, community physicians throughout the Bronx and New York City, and visiting physicians from throughout the world.
The Center's community outreach initiatives have increased access to HIV testing and prevention education for patients in every area of the hospital, including the emergency room, and for residents throughout the Bronx.
