Dr. Porrovecchio completed a MD from New York Medical College in June 2002 and an internal medicine residency at Keesler Medical Center in June 2005. She was recruited to join the faculty at Montefiore/Einstein in the Division of Hospital Medicine, Moses Division in 2008 after completing an active duty commitment in the United States Air Force as a general internist. As an academic hospitalist at Moses, she was involved in the education of medical students and residents, developed the hospitalist curricula for national ACP meetings, and served as the Director of Teaching Hospitalists. Additionally, she was the hospitalist member of the Geriatrics Champion Program funded by D.W. Reynolds Foundation Grant.
In July of 2013, Dr. Porrovecchio moved to the Wakefield Division of Montefiore and became the founding Director of Hospital Medicine and an Associate Program Director in the Wakefield Medicine Residency Program. Since then she has created an emergency department hospitalist program, established a faculty development series for the hospitalist group, engineered changes to the residency program, spearheaded initiatives to improve safety and quality on both the teaching and non-teaching services, and continued to participate in resident and medical school student education.
