Geriatrics Residency Clinical Training Sites

  • Montefiore Medical Center Geriatrics Acute Hospital Service
Residents rotate on this clinical service for 2 weeks, led by a geriatrician faculty member, which provides primary care and consultative services for acutely ill older adults throughout the Moses Division of Montefiore Medical Center.
Daily teaching rounds are held between 9:30 and 11:30.  Sources of admissions include community-dwelling elderly and nursing home residents. Consultations include patients on surgical services (particularly general surgery, vascular and orthopedics) as well as the psychiatry and neurology services.
  • Long Term Care at King's Harbor Multicare Center
During the long term care segment of the rotation, residents provide care for acute illness and chronic continuity care for patients residing on both a subacute care floor and a long term care floor under the supervision of the faculty from the Geriatrics Division.
In addition, residents have an opportunity to observe rehabilitation in the facility and participate in skin care rounds.
  • Robert and Joyce Menschel Geriatrics Medical Home Visiting Program
Residents participate in at least one home visit with a geriatrics fellow, faculty and/or nurse practitioner during which home environmental assessment and clinical geriatrics assessment is taught.
  • Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Geriatrics Ambulatory Practice
Residents participate in providing primary and consultative geriatrics ambulatory care under supervision of the faculty in the Geriatrics Ambulatory Practice.
