Eva Metalios, MD, Assistant Professor of Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, is a clinician educator and primary care physician at Montefiore’s CHCC community healthcare center in the south Bronx.  She has spent two decades providing care, developing programs, and conducting research focused on marginalized populations, specifically torture survivors and asylum seekers in the United States.

Prior to becoming faculty at Einstein, Dr. Metalios received her undergraduate degree in philosophy from Barnard College, and her medical degree from New York Medical College.  She completed her residency in Primary care Internal Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center, followed by a year of Chief Residency at Montefiore. 

Dr. Metalios is one of the founding providers at the Bronx Human Rights Clinic, and has been a volunteer provider at since its inception in 1993.  In conjunction with HealthRight International, Dr. Metalios directs the Bronx Human Rights Clinic at CHCC, where she supervises residents to evaluate foreign-born torture survivors applying for asylum in the United States. Her academic interests include human rights, musculoskeletal medicine, and women's health.
