Shwetha V. Iyer, M.D.
Professional Interests
Dr. Shwetha Iyer received her medical degree from Temple University and completed her residency in the Primary Care/Social Internal Medicine Program at Montefiore. She continued on as PC/SM faculty at CHCC for one year after residency and is now assisting Dr. Gerald Paccione as a global health faculty fellow in developing the Global Health and Clinical Skills Fellowship.
Dr. Iyer spends 3 months in Uganda working at the Montefiore affiliated Kisoro District Hospital site attending to residents during their clinical global health month abroad, assists in development of community projects in Kisoro and otherwise works as a clinician and preceptor at CHCC. Her academic interests include obesity, nutrition and medical education. She modified and taught a weight management curriculum as her residency project. She is also currently working on developing domestic violence and chronic disease follow-up programs in Kisoro.
