Sheira L. Schlair, M.D., M.S.

Sheira is a clinician-educator and educational-researcher who completed the Montefiore Primary Care/ Social Medicine residency in 2006 and Chief Residency in 2007. In 2009, Sheira achieved an MS (Medical Education) and completed a General Internal Medicine fellowship at New York University School of Medicine where was also a Clinical Instructor. She's excited to mentor and teach in the internal medicine residency program and is committed to undergraduate and graduate medical educational research, teaching and curricular development.  Her research focuses on the impact of doctor-patient and teacher-student communication and teaching praxis on patient-level outcomes. In addition to clinical and teaching responsibilities, Sheira is the Firm 1 leader (Associate Program Director) in the internal medicine residency training program. She is currently leading an initiative to revitalize the mini-CEX program and systematize observation and evaluation across clinical teaching sites. In fall 2010, Sheira was selected to be one of six faculty fellows selected nationally for the Facilitator-In-Training program sponsored by the American Academy on Communication in Healthcare.
