Dr. Adam Friedman Receives JDD Leaders of Distinction Award

January 21, 2014 - BRONX, NY - Dr. Adam Friedman, Assistant Professor of Medicine (Dermatology) and of Physiology & Biophysics, received the prestigious Journal of Drugs in Dermatology Leaders of Distinction Award this past weekend at the Orlando Dermatology Aesthetic and Clinical (ODAC) Conference in Orlando, FL.

Dr. Friedman was presented with the award for his work in emerging trends and technologies in photo protection, with additional emphasis on debunking myths and controversies and the role of nanotechnology in enhancing sunblock efficacy and consumer compliance.

Dr. Friedman is Director of Dermatologic Research at the Unified Division of Dermatology of Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center. He is currently investigating novel nanotechnologies that allow for controlled and sustained delivery of a wide spectrum of physiologically and medicinally relevant molecules, with an emphasis on treating infectious diseases, accelerating wound healing, immune modulation, and correcting vascular dysfunction. He holds several patents derived from these investigations, and has published over 90 papers/chapters and two textbooks on his research, as well as a variety of clinical areas in dermatology with an emphasis on emerging medical therapies. He has presented his research nationally and internationally, and has been featured on the online forums Dermtube, DermMatters,Nanotechnology Thought Leaders, and Dermquest. He is the Senior Editor of the Dermatology In-Review Online Workshop, serves as the Dermatology Expert for healthguru.com, publishes a column on Everyday Health entitled "The Skin You're In".

Dr. Friedman is also committed to resident and medical education, having chaired the leadership workgroup of the American Academy of Dermatology Resident/Fellows Committee and currently serving on the Sulzberger Committee on Education. He is the Vice President of the Nanodermatology Society, and was recently appointed President of the Dermatology Section of the New York Academy of Medicine.

Dr. Friedman is co-founder of the newly formed Einstein Emerging Leaders, a group of young professionals who host events through which they can introduce Einstein to like-minded young professionals and who have an interest in making the world a better place through the support of healthcare and research. He has appeared on television news programs such as Good Morning America, and has been quoted in numerous leading publications, including WebMD, In Style, Reuters, Good Housekeeping, and Women’s Day.

JDD has been recognized as the official publication of the International Society of Dermatologic Surgery (ISDS) and the Orlando Dermatology Aesthetic and Clinical (ODAC) Conference. Its mission is to educate physicians, optimize patient outcomes, and disseminate key scientific information.
