Professional Interests

Dr. Leung graduated from SUNY Health Science Center at Brooklyn in 2005 and completed her internal medicine residency and critical care medicine fellowship training at Monfefiore Medical Center. In 2009, house staff selected her as Fellow of the Year. In 2010, she was recruited to join the Einstein-Montefiore faculty as an academic intensivist and was supported by her division for the Master’s Program in Clinical Research Methods at Albert Einstein College of Medicine because of her interest in comparative effectiveness, cost, and outcomes research.  She graduated in 2012 with distinction and will pursue the Executive MPH at Columbia Mailman School of Public Health in the fall of 2012, majoring in Health Policy & Management.

Dr. Leung co-directs the Quality & Safety section in the Division of Critical Care Medicine and remains a core faculty member in the Research section. Her main focus is to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment strategies, to employ advanced statistics and modeling methodologies to map the drivers of change in dynamically complex systems, and to study healthcare utilization and costs.  She has authored over ten peer-reviewed manuscripts and provided mentorship for medical residents and students in research. She has also been heavily involved in hospital epidemiology, infection control and disaster management.

Dr. Leung was invited by the American Association of Chest Physicians to participate on its Task Force on Mass Critical Care for development of the 2012 ACCP Mass Critical Care Consensus Statement, to be published in the ACCP journal Chest. The 80-member international task force met in Chicago, IL on June 7 and 8th.

Dr. Leung was born in Hong Kong and moved to New York when she was 19.
