Through the Associated Medical Schools of New York (AMSNY), the University of Buffalo’s School of Medicine and Biomedical Science sponsors the Post baccalaureate Program: a joint initiative to provide college students from economically and educationally disadvantaged areas who have applied to medical school with one year of individualized postbaccalaureate study to enhance their academic performance before they enter medical school. The program is based on the premise that there is a pool of students with the intellectual ability for medical school, but whose academic performance has been compromised for a variety of reasons. The program is tailored to provide medical school applicants who would benefit from academic enrichment courses a second opportunity for admission to medical school.
Eligibility
Have a score of 21 or higher on the MCAT
Be a member of a group historically underrepresented in medicine, or be educationally or economically disadvantaged
Be referred to the program through the admissions process at participating medical schools
Note: Preference is given to New York State residents
