The practices that form NYC RING's core are community-based primary care practices which target services to the minority underserved population in the Bronx, Queens, lower Manhattan, and southern Westchester County.
NYC RING facilities offer a diversity of urban primary care practices with different provider specialties, medical disciplines, and ethnic mixes, such as:
- More than 200 Board-certified primary care physicians, including internists, pediatricians, family physicians, and Obstetricians-Gynecologists.
- Approximately 55% of the physicians are women and 32% are physicians of color, principally African-American and Hispanic, with some of Asian and Middle Eastern ethnic backgrounds.
- Overall, 90% of patients served by our partner sites are minorities.
- Almost half of patients are Hispanic, about a third are Black, and Whites and Other comprise relatively equal proportions.
- Partner practices have substantial proportions of uninsured patients.
- Over half of patients are enrolled in managed care plans.
- Six sites are federally-funded community health centers.
- Manhattan practices provide access to a mixed demographic, including much larger proportions of Caucasian patients.
