Research Interests:
Cocaine users tend to show impulsive behavior and a reduced awareness of the negative outcomes of their choices. As a result, I am currently interested in executive functioning deficits in cocaine abusers, notably inhibitory control and error processing and awareness. Using electrophysiology, I investigate the integrity of both error processing abilities in this population as well as the role of motivation.
My future work will focus on executive functions in adolescents who have a family history of addictive disorders, in an attempt to determine if certain executive functioning deficits lead to an increased vulnerability to addiction later in life.
