Dr. Alex Boafo and Dr. Diana S Wolfe of the Department of Ob/Gyn have opened an opportunity for medical students interested in Global Women’s Health in Ghana, West Africa. The location is in the Eastern Region at Tetteh Quashie Memorial Hospital (TQMH), located 58 kilometers from the national capital, Accra and directed by Dr. Mawuli Gyakobo. The catchment area includes at least 8 health centers, 18 community health and planning services (CHPS) of which a total of 13 attend births, serving a population of 145,263 persons. There are 19 urban towns and at least 150 rural communities where remote health posts are located at a distance as far as 37.5 kilometers from TQMH. At this time, there are at least two research opportunities available for both medical students who are between academic year one and two and fourth year medical students.
