David Lounsbury, PhD is Assistant Professor at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University, in the Department of Epidemiology and Population Health. He received his Doctorate in Ecological-Community Psychology and Urban Studies from Michigan State University in 2002 and completed a post-doctoral research in fellowship in Psycho-Oncology from Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in 2005. He is Co-Chair of the Community Health Interest Group of the Society of Community Research and Action (American Psychological Association, Division 27), Co-Chair of the Psychology Interest Group of the System Dynamics Society, and Co-Chair of the Behavioral Science Special Interest Group of the African Organization of Research and Training in Cancer (AORTIC).
Research
Applying expertise in system dynamics modeling and participatory action
research methodologies, his on-going research addresses health
disparities in obesity, cancer, HIV and other chronic health problems.
Current system dynamics modeling projects are focused on community-based
breast cancer screening, HPV vaccine dissemination, tobacco cessation
in primary care settings, evaluation of HIV care services for women of
color, and on wellness program development in urban school systems.
