Featured Projects
India: Strategic Research Partnership
Einstein's Global Diabetes Institute is establishing collaborative research projects with the internationally renowned CMC Vellore medical research center, to investigate the pathogenesis and management of 'malnutrition diabetes', a devastating condition that is not encountered in the West. CMC's Endocrinology Department has developed a comprehensive, two year diabetes training program and has successfully trained staff from 99 hospitals around India to provide high quality diabetes care. Einstein's Global Diabetes Institute is working with CMC Vellore to expand this outstanding program beyond India.
Uganda: Comprehensive Diabetes Education
Since 2005, Einstein faculty have been involved in teaching medical students and residents at Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda's largest medical school. Doctors at Makerere and elsewhere are struggling to address Uganda's burgeoning diabetes epidemic without formal Endocrinology training.
