Dr. Sunit Kumar Singh is working as a permanent faculty member (Scientist & Project Leader) in the Section of Infectious Diseases and Immunobiology, Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), Hyderabad. Dr. Singh visited the laboratory of Dr. Joan Berman at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, New York under the AITRP in year 2008 as a visiting scientist from CCMB Hyderabad. His research project was aimed to study the role of microRNAs in HIV neuropathogenesis. The aim of collaborative research work between Dr. Singh and Dr. Berman's laboratory was to generate the preliminary data and further continue the research on the same line after returning to the home institution (CCMB, Hyderabad). Dr. Sunit Singh is hopeful to develop a long lasting collaboration with Dr. Berman's lab at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, New York. After generating the preliminary data Dr. Singh has returned to india to establish his own research program on HIV Neuropathogenesis. The future goal of Dr. Singh's laboratory at CCMB Hyderabad is to understand the role of small RNAs/microRNAs in HIV induced neuroinflammation. Dr. Singh is recipient of many awards through various organizations such as Young Scientist Award, Skinner Memorial Award and AFS travel grant award. Dr. Singh's broad area of interest is neurovirology and neuroinflammation.
