In order that the College of Medicine may maintain and improve its position as an
eminent contributor to the education of physicians, the advancement of science, the
maintenance of health, the prevention of disease, and the improvement of the provision of
medical care, it is evident that there must be understanding, trust and enthusiastic
cooperation among the faculty, research fellows and student body, the Dean, the President of the
University, and the Board of Trustees of the University, Board of Overseers of the
school1 and the Boards of Governors of the relevant hospitals. The essence of the
governance of the school is that success and growth depend on open, honest discussion of
all issues.
