Laboratory Safety

The program for Laboratory Safety in our research laboratories and clinical settings requires knowledge and expertise in a number of disciplines such as chemical safety, biological safety, fire safety, radiation safety and industrial hygiene. The Laboratory Safety Officer supervises, trains, inspects, consults and advises, writes guidelines and responds to emergencies in all of the above listed areas. It is the Laboratory Safety Officer's main responsibility to ensure that research proceeds in a safe manner. The links below for Biosafety and Chemical Safety provide more detailed information on laboratory safety issues.
