How-Tos

Following are some hints to help you explore Einstein Research Profiles. Simply click on a phrase and instructions will appear beneath it. If you have questions about how to use this resource, please submit your question here.


Starting at the Eisntein Research Profile page:
  1. In the text box next to "search experts by concept," enter the topic for which you want to find an Einstein expert.
  2. The search tool will automatically translate your search term into a matching medical subject heading (MeSH) term.
  3. Click on the MeSH term that most closely matches your desired search term (i.e., the concept of interest to you).
  4. The left column will list the Einstein faculty experts in order of significance and relevance to the topic you are searching.
  5. The right column will offer additional concepts that overlap in publications with the term you are viewing. You can refine your query by clicking “Add” next to the term. This will allow you to narrow your search, giving you results that are more specific.
  6. Click on a faculty expert link to view a profile, including details on the individual's publications and grants.

  1. Scroll down the list of Einstein departments.
  2. Click on a department to view a list of faculty with primary appointments in that department; you may also view the department’s overall profile.
  3. Click on a faculty expert link to view a profile, including details on the individual's publications and grants.

  3. Click on the "Publications" tab to view publications.

  3. Click on the "NIH Grants" tab to view active NIH-funded grants for the faculty member.

Starting at the Eisntein Research Profile page:
  • In the text box next to "by name," enter the last name of an Einstein faculty member.
  • Click on a faculty expert link to view a profile.
  • (By Coauthor Network) Click on the “Coauthor Network” tab to view coauthors.
  • (By Research Network) Click on the “Research Network” tab to view coauthors.
  • To stop the animation, click on the yellow pause button in the upper right corner. Pink circles indicate internal coauthors and gray circles indicate external coauthors. The size of a circle depends on the number of publications attributed to the author.

Starting at the Eisntein Research Profile page:
  1. Click on a department.
  2. On the department page, click on the tabs in the upper left side of the page to find information on publications, journals, NIH grants, networks, and trends.
